Wales is a country of 3.2 million people. Why do we need 7 NHS Health Boards, 3 NHS Trusts, 4 Police Forces and 3 Fire Services? There are too many boundaries. We don’t need the level of bureaucracy that faces our public services.
Single NHS for Wales
For Wales: Replace the current health board and trust system with One NHS for Wales. Social Services should form part of an integrated health offer. Share resources across the country. Services in communities where they’re needed.
For Carmarthenshire: No downgrading Prince Philip Hospital or Glangwili Hospital. No spending billions on a replacement hospital. We need a better integrated health service in our communities.
Single Police Force for Wales
For Wales: Replace South Wales Police, Dyfed Powys Police, Gwent Police and North Wales Police with One Police Force for Wales. Centralise specialist roles, not duplicate. Co-ordinate resources where they’re needed. More visible community policing.
For Carmarthenshire: Target the drugs issues blighting our communities. Tackle the theft and antisocial behaviour hotspots, which are often associated with the drugs issues. Make police more accessible and visible in communities.
Single Fire Service for Wales
For Wales: Replace South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service with One Fire Service for Wales. After damning reports about the culture in our fire services, it is obvious that the current system isn’t working. Centralise the management and reinvest in community fire and rescue services to protect our communities.
For Carmarthenshire: Ensure communities have adequate fire and rescue coverage provided by a well managed and motivated fire service.
