Sport and Culture

Sport, culture, and language are part of who we are. From the Scarlets to the Welsh language, these are the things that bind us together and give us pride in our nation. They must be protected and celebrated, not treated as optional extras.

For Wales Sport and culture are not luxuries — they are part of who we are. Rugby, football, music, and the Welsh language all bind us together and give us pride in our nation. We must protect our professional rugby regions, because losing them would be devastating for our identity and our economy.

I will argue for investment in grassroots sport, because it’s about more than competition — it’s about health, wellbeing, and giving young people role models to look up to. At the same time, I will stand up for our culture and heritage, making sure that efficiency never comes at the cost of our diwylliannau.

For Carmarthenshire The Scarlets are part of who we are. I will stand shoulder to shoulder with our community to protect them and ensure they remain a cornerstone of life in Llanelli and beyond. But it’s not just about elite sport — I want to see investment in local pitches, leisure centres, and community clubs so that everyone has the chance to take part.

Carmarthenshire is also a Welsh‑speaking heartland. I will work to strengthen the Welsh language in everyday life, making sure services are available in Welsh and that our young people can live, work, and thrive in their own language. From Kidwelly’s Castle to Llanelli’s industrial history, our heritage should be celebrated as part of regeneration and growth.
